Generally, having magazine or newspaper style in web designs is very traditional as earlier the sites were heavy content driven. Unlike other web design styles that can use larger images to compliment the design, Magazine and newspaper is limited to being designed within the parameters that the content (namely, the text and the occasional thumbnail) dictates, and that is were the problem lies. But still it is always a fun to work with content intensive websites because there are many ways to work with interesting typography, and it is a challenge to steer the user through the website.
